Dear Theophilus Archive: Sept. 2001Caring CommitteeBy Arlene Cho
If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Some of the goals of the Caring Committee are to encourage a heart of caring within the body of Christ at Emmanuel Church and to care for brothers and sisters in the congregation with the love of Christ as needs arise. God has used members of the Caring Committee to foster a more edifying body of believers who show compassion to one another and to the community around us. Specifically, the Caring Committee demonstrates Christ’s love through acts of service such as making care packages and interceding on behalf of the church and the community. One area of particular need this year is serving the children and married couples of our congregation. The committee works with other members of the church in helping with the English Ministry Sunday School, providing nursery care for both Sunday services, and baby-sitting for the married couples' Bible study. It has been awesome to see members of different fellowships come together to serve and build up the body of Christ. We hope that the Lord will use us to encourage this congregation to imitate the comforting, tender, compassionate heart of Christ-being like-minded in one love, spirit and purpose-in our daily walks and in fellowship with one another. |
