Dear Theophilus Archive: Sept. 2001A Plug for the Web CommitteeBy Mark Kim
Imagine a radio station that plays one song, the same song, twenty-four/seven, for months or even years. How often would you tune in to that station? A church web page is like a radio station. It is on all the time 24/7/365.25. Furthermore, it is accessible by anyone in the world. We believe that the Internet is a medium or resource to be utilized for the sake of the Gospel. We also believe that the Internet is ideally suited to Emmanuel Church. First of all, English is the lingua franca of the Internet. Second, it is the medium of choice for this generation. In fact, the younger you are, the more Internet savvy you are likely to be. The Internet is interactive - both by sight and sounds; it also allows one to be creative via, among others, digital cameras, Micromedia's Flash, and Adobe Photoshop. No matter how you cut it, the www is the future. At emmanuelchurch.net, we are dedicated to (1) using the Internet to foster a Christian web community for Emmanuel and Emmanuel diaspora all over the world; (2) providing up-to-date information about church life and events, such as weekly announcements, directions to retreats, photo galleries, and more; (3) providing information about our church to students and working people new to the Philadelphia area; (4) encouraging the greater Body of Christ by providing resources such as sermons, testimonies, DT articles, and Christian music reviews; (5) sharing how God is moving in West Philadelphia; and (6) spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are looking for people who can provide content: writers, editors, coders, and photographers. We are also looking for creative people such as artists, photographers, and programmers. HTML knowledge is not necessary! The only requirement is a willingness to serve behind the scenes. Praise God! |
