Delirious is considered by many to be a pioneer of modern worship. Their first release, The Cutting Edge, in many ways revolutionized the way we did praise by blurring the lines of praise and concert style worship, thus paving the way for the newer, heavier sounds of Charlie Hall (Passion) and Chris Tomlin (Breakaway).

After their sophomore release entitled, King of Fools, the band started to explore the possibility of going mainstream. Mezzamorph, the 3rd release, had many feeling that Delirious had strayed too far into concert material and away from praise. And as a result, their 4th release, Glo, was an attempt to return to their praise and worship roots. The end yield was far from satisfying.

Unfortunately, the songwriting on Glo, tends to be very mediocre. The cd often seems to drone. The songs sounded tired and at times, very stagnant. If you took away the instruments, you would find that the vocals have the same droning pace throughout. The fast songs lack drive. Melodies lack movement. It seems that they tried (unsuccessfully I think) to substitute pace for heaviness.

Track 1, "God You are my God" has a very beatlesque opening progression...that British sound. Combine that with a Gregorian chant element and you have a very confused song indeed. Again, the song lacks drive.

Track 3, "Hang on to You" is very U2 sounding...ie. not very original. Then again, delirious has always be characterized as a U2 sounding group...both old U2 and new.

Track 7, "My Glorious" is an attempt at a heavy rocker. Not bad, but a little slow. Again, they try to incorporate congregational worship here. The problem is that there's not much of a melody to work with.

I give this CD a 1 out of 5. I really think that this is one of those CD's that will sit on my wall and never see the light of my CD player. I normally like Delirious...I really do. But to be honest, I was truly disappointed with this work.

"I have to disagree with your review on 'Glo'. It has more passion and emotion packed into those songs then I have heard in a lot of other bands and songs. "My Glorious" is amazing! I get so lost in it all and just find myself getting a lump in my throat at times. I know that these songs may be a little drawn out and sometimes long... with long winded outros... but that is what I like. The whole "spontaneous" thing I love. I have to say this is my favorite album... and their best that I've heard so far. That's my 2 cents. God Bless!"

"I think your review of delirious Glo was very unfair and I think considering their history as a band, they are still pioneering the christian music and worship scene. Their "My Glorious" is an anthem! I feel God's presence every time I sing it - it's a much better declaration than what's on the radio these days. I agree there was a lot of sounds mixed up in one CD but overall my friends love it, I love it, and they are still moving forward. Lets give them a little more support for coming this far!"

"I thought Delirious' new cd "Glo", was really good. It was different...a new sound. They sounded like they were worshipping God with all their hearts. I give much love to Delirious because of their new cd. Wow I cant stop listening to it!"

"Hey Joe, this is Dan Ra from Pitt. It was really disappointing to hear that you didn't like Glo from reading your review of it. In my opinion, I think the cd expresses such urgent desire and crying out to God. I think it possesses so much passion and intensity, especially if you just hear the singing shouts of the choir that back up's Martin's shouts to sing to God. I consider this to be one of my favorite christian cds and one of Delirious' best. It's funny because I also really like Mezzamorphis. Oh well, stinks for the disagreement. See ya!

In Him,
Dan
