When I was asked to review Lincoln Brewster's new CD, I was admittedly skeptical. After all, I'd never heard any of his original work - only covers of songs like "Power of Your Love." Apparently, this is his third album, and it couldn't have been a more pleasant surprise. I guess I could describe his style as being a cross between old school Sonicflood with a hint of British Matt Redman. All in all, the entire album is musically sound and the lyrics worshipfully honest.

This album starts with "Let the Praises Ring," a rocky worship song of personal devotion and subsequent praise. It has a catchy tune and a neat midsong guitar riff. The second track is equally solid - "All I Really Want" is a slower song, also with a great melody. The words are awesome in how they describe Brewster's personal relationship with God and longing for more, as well as how they see God from a very Gospel-centered view. Probably my favorite song is the ninth track, "Let All Creation Praise the Lord." Much of the CD has a personal/relational tone to it - this song, meanwhile, is simply a call for all creation to worship. Using a 3/4 rhythm, Brewster creates a processional/marching atmosphere, as if it were an army call for all creation to worship. A great song!

The rest of the CD is just as solid. There is one cover - Deliriou5's "What a Friend I've Found." Lincoln does a great job redoing it, hitting the down beats with strong drums and bass. As usual, he delivers a solid cover of an already well-known song. Each song is easy to sing along to and can easily be adapted to a praise-and-worship setting. Overall, the album is a definite "must-buy" for any worship leader or praise-and-worship listener. It's got a new sound and great words. And don't be surprised if you hear some of these songs at a Life Conference near you.
