Tim Hughes:: "Here I Am To Worship"Title: Here I Am To Worship
Tim Hughes’ new CD Here I Am to Worship carries an aroma of deep love and worship for Jesus Christ. Through listening to his songs, I sensed in Hughes and felt in myself a longing to have more of Christ and honor him from the depths of his soul. Like King David, his songs also reflect a desire to keep purity of heart and bring total worship before God. Musically, the CD’s songs have a similar flavor. The majority of them have a steady beat and a reflective tone with percussion, guitar and strings. The song, "Here I am to Worship" has a steady tempo driven by percussion and strings. In the last round of the chorus, several recordings of Hughes' voice are blended together to create a beautiful melody for worship. The lyrics: You are altogether beautiful, This song helped me to reflect upon God's heart, demonstrated on the cross. It also communicates a sense of wonder at God’s utter beauty and holiness. The lyrics portray those covered in Christ as irresistibly drawn near to Him in heavenly worship, rather than having to look from afar, in distant fear and terror of His holiness. What is your calling in life? What is Christ calling us to do? "If There's One Thing" reminds us exactly what this calling is (chorus): If there's one thing we are called to do, Christ is the worthy pursuit and center of affection. Finally, the CD’s two fast songs are "Maker of All Things" and "Jesus, You Alone" (also sung in the Soul Survivor CD). Both have great lyrics and are a good break, musically, from the general mellow tone of the other songs. This CD illustrates a natural response to the kind of grace that has been revealed and given to sinners in Christ. It reminds us to "Never Lose the Wonder" and amazement of His love demonstrated on the cross. It is definitely worthy of purchase if you are thinking about it.
