Mary Mary recently released Incredible, the follow-up album to their Grammy winning first album, Thankful. Sisters Erica and Tina Campbell (sisters who incidently married husbands with the same sur-name) continue their tradition of personal songs of worship and testimony with the soulful and dance-enhancing melodies.

Most of the songs are originally composed by the sisters, with help from producer Warryn Campbell (Erica’s husband) for the smooth accompaniment. Of the few that are not originals, the sisters tweak into their trademark Mary Mary style.

You may have heard the title song, "Incredible" or "In the Morning," on the Philly airwaves, which both speak of God’s amazing love for us, that even in our sinful nature and seemingly difficult circumstances He is there, and He gives hope. The album is filled with simple lyrics, obviously spoken from an artist who has or is experiencing the things sung about. From a teenage girl struggling with self-esteem hearing what God has to say, to hearing the prayer of blessing and perseverance from an older sister to a friend who had "made a big mistake."

My favorite track is entitled, "Thank You," a remake of an old gospel chorus. The sisters begin with singing about ghetto struggles yet God’s hand of protection and provision for their lives. The song keeps on building up with more vocals, and accompaniment to finally climax with experts from the song’s original recording of a full gospel choir dialoging with a shouting pastor and full gospel band.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this album if you are a fan of Mary Mary or if you enjoy listening to smooth, upbeat, feel-good music. Great lyrics, targeting and generated by sisters struggling with urban life is a Mary Mary trademark. The following is an expert from "He said," (track 3) which has a similar feel to their hit “Shackles” and really captures the heart and vision of this group.

Now it is a must I testify and
Let everybody know
I live because of you
And they can have the same life that I choose
And when they ask me now
I’ll say it’s because of you

Look forward to quite a few more albums by the sisters, because I don’t see them as slowing down any time soon.
