Tsunami Relief
If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. (1 John 3:17-18)
The Church has been called to be Christ’s hands and feet of compassion.
As we all see the enormous tragedy and suffering in southeast Asia, we wanted to give our Emmanuel family an opportunity to express that compassion. I think it’s great to see so many agencies and governments working to meet the immediate humanitarian needs in these different countries. Certainly, these needs must be addressed.
During the month of January, special offerings designated as "Tsunami Relief" will be collected and sent to Gospel for Asia (GFA), an organization that our church has been supporting for many years (some of you may remember GFA's K.P.Yohannan as our speaker for Missions Conference 2001). Our decision to send our offering to Gospel For Asia is also because along side their distribution of food, water, blankets, etc., they have a mission to share the gospel of Christ.
Let’s pray that the Gospel would be proclaimed in word and deed in this time of need.
